With a strong presence across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates and goals to expand to the rest of the Gulf countries in the next two years, ALBAIK plans to drive growth using an area development model. Chatime BEST FOOD & DRINK FRANCHISE (DRINK) LaKaffa Group International operates over 3,000 stores across six continents, and with support from Goldman Sachs, became the first tea franchise listed on Taiwan’s stock market. Its largest brand, Chatime, has seen 14 years of double-digit growth in store expansion and is one of the world’s largest bubble tea franchises. Salata Salad Kitchen BEST FOOD & DRINK FRANCHISE (FOOD) Salata Salad Kitchen is a standout in the fast-casual dining sector. With more than 100 locations in the U.S., Salata aims to expand to over 300 locations in the next five years, including entering select international markets. The brand’s scalable franchise model supports sustainable growth, focusing on multi-unit development agreements. JINYA BEST FOOD & DRINK FRANCHISE (FOOD) JINYA Ramen Bar specializes in authentic, Japanese-inspired ramen, offering a full-service dining experience with nearly 70 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Known for high-quality ingredients and customizable menu options, including plant- based dishes, the brand stands out with its commitment to flavor and modern design. Franchise Ready BEST FRANCHISE CONSULTANCY A full-service consulting firm offering comprehensive support to emerging and established franchisors and franchisees. With offices in Australia, the U.K., Morocco, and India, and expertise in 10 countries, Franchise Ready provides a global network and local partnerships to ensure successful international growth. Ascent Hospitality Management BEST FOOD & DRINK FRANCHISE (FOOD) Ascent Hospitality Management oversees over 600 locations of Huddle House and Perkins American Food Co. in North America. The company is committed to driving innovation, including a 2024 Perkins brand refresh, and has expanded significantly with 120 units in three years. Creams Café BEST FOOD & DRINK FRANCHISE (DESSERTS) With a network of 94 franchises, Creams Café is established in the U.K., distinguishing itself with flexible store formats, and a strong commitment to supporting franchisees. The brand is currently seeking global expansion with a strategic plan to establish 300 international stores alongside continued domestic growth. How did we decide on our shortlist? The Global Franchise Awards recognize excellence within the field of international franchising. Everyone who made it to the shortlist demonstrated the following four core values, which were considered essential when reviewing submissions: 1. Global intentions: we looked for franchises with clear plans to go global, in a sustainable and ethical way, regardless of their current international footprint. 2. Franchisor-franchisee relationships: the strength of communication and support systems between franchisors and franchisees is critical, especially during challenging times like the pandemic crisis. 3. Innovative marketing and promotions: we assessed entries based on their 2024 marketing plans, including promotions both online and in print, and their social media presence. 4. Advancement of international franchising: we considered companies’ extracurricular activities within the franchising sector, such as exhibiting at shows, joining organizations, and speaking at events. For supplier categories, such as Best Franchise Law Firm, our judging panel evaluated based on: 1. Service offering and results: suppliers had to demonstrate they are equipped to assist clients, with proven effectiveness. 2. Client dedication: suppliers who go above and beyond to support their clients’ needs. 3. Ethical franchising: suppliers should adhere to best practices and ensure ethics are maintained. 4. Future planning: we looked for suppliers with clear, forward-looking strategies and a proven understanding of trends. JUDGING EXCELLENCE Katalin Mandel Katalin Mandel, Ph.D., is a long- standing judge for the Global Franchise Awards and a seasoned veteran in the franchise industry. She specializes in helping foreign brands enter and adapt to Hungarian and European markets, while also supporting local chains in building their franchise systems. Since 2008, Katalin has served as the CEO of the Hungarian Franchise Association (HFA), representing the franchise sector in Hungary’s growing market. Katalin is also active in lobbying for the franchise industry in her homeland. She is the co- author of several influential books, including Franchise as a Business Model (2010), Franchising in Eastern Europe (2018), and Franchising in V4 Countries (2020).
