One of the uncertainties for Canadians looking ahead is the trade relationship between Canada and the United States (U.S.). The evolving situation around potential tariffs has left some business owners and franchisors concerned about how to maintain supply and pricing, and systems poised to break into the Canadian market are watching these developments carefully. As an organization committed to working internationally within the global franchise community, we see the value of extending our community beyond borders. The CFA recently welcomed Matt Haller, president and CEO of the International Franchise Association (IFA), to our annual convention, where he shared the stage for a cross-border talk on the evolving relationship between Canada and the U.S. In addition, as a part of our membership with theWorld Franchise Council (WFC), the CFA has spearheaded a global initiative to recognize and promote franchising onWorld Franchise Day, with the inaugural celebration taking place on June 11, 2025. While it won’t be easy, we know franchising is ready to meet the moment. As we face uncertainties, it’s important to remember that as an industry we truly achieve the most success when we are able to rely on each other and work together.
